Description

Panik Satanik pg 10. Pencils & inks by Dan Parsons

Dan Parsons was born in Rochester, New York on the 10th of January, 1966. Eleven short years later, a young Dan saved up his allowance to buy the Ballantine Frank Frazetta art books. These early inspirations led Dan to know that his future lay in his art.
Dan received a number of art awards during his highschool career, and worked on such varied projects as the school newspaper (as chief cartoonist, of course), and the school's literary magazine (again, as the chief illustrator). Dan went on to receive dual degrees in college (Psychophysiology and Fine Art) and graduated second in his class (Salutatorian). After graduation, Dan went on to an early career as a research scientist at the National Institute of Health. It wasn't until he entered his late 20's that he began to actively pursue his budding illustration career. It was during this time period that he got his first significant break in the comic book industry: penciller and inker on the then-popular Razor series of comic books.
Following this work on the Razor title, Dan went on to work on many more comic-book-related projects. Chief amongst these would be his BattleStar Galactica: First Wave series for the SciFi Channel. Recently, he has provided many incredible trading card illustrations for projects like Witch Blade, the Top Cow Universe, Lexx, The Crow, Vampirella and a host of others.
Dan has also done extensive work on his creator-owned project Harpy. His Harpy: Prize of the Overlord mini-series being his seminal work and the project that brought Dan his widest acclaim. Both Harpy and Dan's newest creation, Savage Planet, harken back to the pulp-adventure books of the early 20th century. It would be while promoting the release of his Edgar Rice Burroughs-inspired Savage Planet series at the 2002 San Diego Comic-Con that he would be hired to work on what many would call the greatest tribute to pulp Sci-Fi Fantasy adventure that has ever been created - Star Wars!
Dan just recently finished long-running stints as the regular inker on the Star Wars series of comic book titles for Dark Horse Comics / Lucas Film (StarWars: Legacy / Knights of the Old Republic). He is currently working on a brand new series of Star Wars comics (also through Dark Horse). He is also, thankfully, still working on his own projects (Savage Planet and Harpy). Both books are currently scheduled to be released through Amryl Entertainment.
Dan Parsons' influences: Alex Raymond, Hal Foster, Frank Frazetta, Al Williamson, Barry W. Smith, John Buscema, and the Argentinian artist Jose Luis Salinas.
